Monk & Mongoose (Lone tree, Colorado)

Coffee near the Rockies.

Throughout my coffee escapades in 2023, the ultimate stop for both superb coffee and an inviting atmosphere turned out to be Monk & Mongoose in Lone Tree, Colorado, nestled near the Rocky Mountains just outside Denver.

Undoubtedly, the longest coffee line I found myself in that year, and boy, was the wait at Monk & Mongoose absolutely worth it. This coffee shop was a lively, expansive space, drawing in a diverse crowd of business associates, outdoor enthusiasts, and fellow coffee connoisseurs. It's safe to say Monk & Mongoose caters to every taste. When I googled "best coffee shops in Denver," little did I know that Google would lead me to such an unexpected treasure.

Class and Quality. The atmosphere and service at Monk & Mongoose mixed with the quality of coffee makes this coffee shop my top pick for 2023!

My usual order – a cortado and a pour-over – brought me great delight as the presentation of the coffee at my table was nothing short of impressive. The baristas' friendly and inviting interactions and masterful craftsmanship were truly a sight to behold.

It was evident that Monk & Mongoose held a respected place in the community, boasting a clientele reminiscent of the familiar faces you'd find in the TV show Cheers. The bright white ambiance, coupled with the buzzing conversations, created an atmosphere that made saying goodbye difficult. This spot wasn't merely a coffee shop; it was an experience, a standard against which I'll measure all future coffee shops.

Monk & Mongoose isn't just a spot to elevate your caffeine intake; it's the kind of place that enhances work productivity while providing a caffeine boost. Setting a new benchmark, it's a place that now guides my judgment of all coffee shops. I’m proud to say that I’m an owner of a Monk & Mongoose sticker on my MacBook Pro and a faithful carrier of their coffee tumbler every week. Hardly a week goes by that I don’t think about that beautiful coffee shop in Lone Pine, Colorado, even though I’m 1,570 miles away on the East Coast.
